Southwest Windpower Monopole Tower 3-CMBP-3207
Skystream 3.7, developed by Southwest Windpower in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory, is the newest generation in residential wind technology. Skystream 3.7 has a 1.9 kW rating and is the first fully integrated small wind generator specifically designed for homeowners looking to reduce or eliminate their monthly electric bills.
Skystream 3.7 is a down-wind(wind hits the blades on the downwind side of the tower) direct drive(gearless or no transmission) permanent magnet wind generator. Skystream 3.7 uses an innovative 12-foot diameter rotor and produces approximately 400kWh per month in a 12 mph average wind. Requires 8 mph for start up, 110 mph maximum.
Skystream is available on towers ranging from 33 feet to 70 feet. Its fully integrated universal inverter delivers power compatible with any utility grid from 120-240 Vac. Skystream carries a 5-year warranty. Grid-connected systems can incorporate “battery charging controller kit” for battery back up.
Southwest Windpower approves the following towers for use with the Skystream wind generator. These towers are engineered specifically for use with the Skystream system and ensure safety, longevity and efficiency of your turbine. Southwest Windpower does not recommend third party manufactured towers or mounting systems for the Skystream wind generator. Use of such towers may affect the safety and performance of your system and in some cases may void your warranty.
In most cases, a taller tower will allow you to generate more energy. Taller towers, however, increase the cost of your installation and may not be allowed in some areas. A Skystream 3.7 commonly requires a monopole or guyed tower. Below you’ll find a siting guide and information on the most common tower options.
