You’ve made the decision to go solar, and you’re ready to start reaping the benefits that comes with owning a rooftop system. Your utility has generous net metering policies, and you’re expecting to save a bundle on electricity rates. There’s one crucial step in the installation process that needs to be completed before you can sit back and enjoy your solar system: interconnection.
Interconnection is the physical and bureaucratic process of hooking your system up to the utility company’s wires. It’s not as simple as your current one-way connection, because the electricity from your panels needs to be converted and transmitted based on how much you generate at any given time. The process is governed by rules called “standards” or “requirements,” which determine the responsibilities of utility companies and homeowners in the interconnection process.
The major benefit of interconnection is it makes it possible for homeowners’ PV systems to unload extra power to the grid. In places where net metering exists, this can translate into extra savings for homeowners.
The time it takes for utilities to process interconnection requests vary. The largest factor in determining the time frame for processing requests is the number of applications the company is already handling. Keep in mind that the solar market is highly concentrated. 78% of solar interconnection applications are processed by fewer than 5% of utilities.
Despite this statistic, the average wait time for interconnection completion (from submitting the application to utility approval) is about four weeks. If your utility has fewer applications to process, you may not have to wait that long. Some utilities can process interconnection requests in as little as two weeks.
However, if your utility is swamped with requests, you may have to wait eight or more weeks to receive final approval.
83% of interconnection applications must be filled out by hand. Only 17% of the applications can be filled out online. Not surprisingly, almost 60% of the online applications were processed in less than two weeks. Of the applications completed by hand, most of them took more than four weeks to process.
Our team of expert rebate processors will ensure that your project receives the maximum rebate as soon as possible, without any headaches along the way. We are well versed with every utility's rebate program nationwide. We handle everything from the very first steps of the process until the customer has their rebate check issued. Since there is so much room for error and a lot of data entry involved in rebate processing, allow us to handle the process in order to guarantee your satisfaction.
Our clients usually prefer to package rebate and interconnection processing together, as the two go hand-in-hand for solar installations. We have been known to receive permission to operate (PTO) for their projects in record time, and this is due to our attention to detail and consistent communication with the utility company. You and your customer want the solar system turned on as soon as possible, and we will help that become reality. We make sure the calculations and data match the single line diagram in order to get approval after the utility company's inspection.
Let us process your solar financing, and we can approve a loan up to $12,000 within 30 seconds. There is no hard credit check unless you decide to accept the loan. Spend less time figuring out your finances and more time enjoying free energy from the sun.

Title 24 reports are essential in the solar industry when dealing with large commercial buildings, multifamily affordable housing, and new custom homes. Programs such as the New Solar Homes Partnership (NSHP), require Title 24 reports for rebate calculations. Our team offers Title 24 energy audits and calculations throughout California. We guarantee that our package will pass with your local building department and speed up your solar installation.
A home energy rating involves an analysis of a home's construction plans and onsite inspections. Based on the home's plans, the Home Energy Rater uses an energy efficiency software package to perform an energy analsyis of the home's design. The New Solar Homes Partnership (NSHP) requires a final verification by a solar PV certified HERS Rater and our company can assist you in finding a qualified individual to provide the necessary documents for your solar project. We also provide rebate processing for the NSHP program and work closely with all program administrators under the CSI.
